We are seeking an experienced and strategic Female Government Relations Officer with relevant experience in the oil and gas or a related industry to lead the organisation's engagement with government stakeholders at the federal, state, and local levels.

The successful candidate will build and manage strategic relationships with government agencies and key decision-makers, facilitate regulatory engagements, oversee government permit and licence processes, and provide management with timely insights on political, regulatory, and stakeholder developments affecting business operations.

Government Relations and Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as the Company's primary point of contact for engagement with federal, state, and local government agencies in Nigeria.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with government stakeholders and decision-makers to advance the Company's regulatory and business interests.
• Represent the Company at government meetings, consultations, and industry or regulatory forums.
• Develop and execute government engagement plans, prioritising relationships and issues based on business impact and urgency.
• Brief senior management on engagement outcomes, emerging developments, and relevant stakeholder concerns.

Regulatory Affairs and Documentation
• Coordinate government permit applications, licence requests, approvals, and renewals, ensuring timely submissions and proactive follow-up.
• Review and quality-check documentation, reports, and regulatory filings before submission to relevant government authorities.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in permit and licensing processes, escalating significant delays and recommending appropriate actions.
• Monitor regulatory engagement requirements and maintain accurate records of government correspondence and submissions.

Political and Regulatory Intelligence
• Monitor political, regulatory, and stakeholder developments that may affect the Company's operations.
• Provide timely advisory support to management on emerging regulatory issues, government policies, and potential business risks.
• Manage complex or sensitive government relations matters and escalate significant risks with clear recommendations.
• Support management decision-making through effective stakeholder intelligence and proactive engagement.

Coordination and Professional Standards
• Provide guidance to junior government relations and administrative personnel on engagement protocols and documentation standards.
• Maintain professional conduct and ensure appropriate representation of the Company in all government interactions.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration between the Company and relevant government institutions.

• Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in Administration or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in government relations, public affairs, stakeholder management, or a similar role.
• Prior experience in the oil and gas industry or a related industry is an advantage, preferably in regulatory affairs, government liaison, permits, licences, and stakeholder engagement.
• Good understanding of government engagement processes and regulatory stakeholder management in Nigeria.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic stakeholder engagement plans.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High levels of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and corporate etiquette.
• Ability to manage sensitive issues and engage effectively with senior government officials and business stakeholders.
